Today marks another historical day in the history of Onopa Community in Atissa Kingdom.On the 15th of October 2017 in a quest for an Ebeneken(Chief) after the death of His Highness Late Clinton Egba,the community in a general meeting appointed a five member electoral committee to conduct the election of a new Ebeneken of Onopa. They are as follows:
- Mr. Inimava Wongs Chairman
- Mr. Israel Wellington Jeremiah Secretary
- Mr Amasoye Jacob Public Relations Officer
- Mr Promise Festus Treasurer
- Mr Kiegunubo Gift Egba Financial Secretary.
Election Committee
The committee immediately sat down for work and came up with its guideline which was presented to the community in a general meeting.This guideline were corrected and approved by the community including the application form which was advertised for thirty thousand naira only as a non refundable fee.The date for the return of completed application form was 27th November 2017 while the election date was fixed on the 16th December 20117.
It is worthy to note that only two aspirants bought the application forms namely, Alabo Jude Jacob and Chief Morrison Tamama.
However,on the 11th December 2017, Alabo Jude Jacob called the electoral Chairman Mr Inimava Wongs on the phone referring him that he will no longer contest in the election scheduled on Saturday,16th of December 2017 based on his personal reasons.
The electoral committee members met Alabo Jude Jacob him in his residence in view of the above development and he still maintained his stand.In a view of this development,the committee was left with no option than to call for a community general meeting which has been schedule for today the 15th December 2017 to officially announce Chief Morrison Macaulay Tamama and Chief Sini Bunas as the Ebeneken (Chief) and Apalmo Ebeneken (Deputy Chief) of Onopa community with effect from today,the 15th December 2017 as there was no other contestant.
